9/12/2023 0 Comments Aida musicalStaged several times at the Lithuanian Opera, this time at the LNOBT Aida is produced by director Gediminas Šeduikis. And the celebratory trumpets in the scene of the triumphant return of Radames probably sound even in the memory of those who have not seen this opera. The greatness of Egypt and the passions of the heroes are expressively conveyed through the music: it is full of wonderful arias, choruses, and impressive scenes. However, the drama of the plot is not only a love story, but also the conflict between duty, loyalty to one's country, patriotism and personal emotional experiences. There is a complication: Radames is also loved by Amneris, the daughter of the Egyptian pharaoh. The story of the opera takes place in the ancient Egyptian kingdom and tells the love story between the Egyptian army commander Radames and the Ethiopian slave Aida. Although everything did not go as smoothly as expected (Verdi did not agree to take up the creation of this opera for a long time, and eventually Rigoletto had to be shown for the opening of the theatre), on 24 December 1871 the unveiling of Aida started the triumphant march of this opera through stages of the world, which continues to this day. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was done very well. The premiere of Aida, one of Giuseppe Verdi's most famous operas, is associated with important events – namely, the opening of the Cairo Opera House, which, in turn, was dedicated to the inauguration of the Suez Canal. Rating: 4 out of 5 Aida was awesome by Datmansalt on 4/29/13 San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego. The costumes and the make-up were stunning. The performance overall was breath taking! The singing was phenomenal, great voices! Rating: 5 out of 5 Aida was magnificant by wonderfulD on 5/20/13 Detroit Opera House - Detroit.I think we can watch this show over and over without getting bored. The head singers really know their roles, and their felings were attacched to their play. The best experince we ever had in a opera show. Rating: 5 out of 5 Best Show ever by Virsha on 5/27/13 Detroit Opera House - Detroit.Would give five stars if not for super title problems. While very annoying, we were able to keep up because the playbill was easy to follow. Music, Performers and staging were excellent, however super titles were illegible. Rating: 4 out of 5 Super Title Failure by KilahDW on 1/24/16 Times Union Ctr Perf Arts Moran Theater - Jacksonville.I realize the SD opera house is not The Met, but it should have done a better job with Aida than it did. Also, there was no dance of the priestesses, which is one of the most powerful visual and musical parts of this opera. Ridiculous to have the orchestra on stage and the singers in front of the orchestra. Outrageous! Aida is a grand opera that must be experienced visually as much as musically and vocally. The music and singing were magnificent! But there was no scenery.
